Hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30, the same months many seasonal owners are away. A storm plan decides ahead of time what should be done to your home, who does it and how fast.
What goes in your storm plan
- Shutter or panel type, where they're stored, and who installs them
- Outdoor furniture, planters and grills to bring inside
- Pool: water level and equipment instructions from your pool provider
- A/C, refrigerator and power settings for an extended outage
- Generator readiness and fuel status
- Boat and lift instructions (for waterfront homes)
- Photos and video of the home's condition before the storm
- Your contacts: insurer, agent and preferred contractors
How it works when a storm is forecast
Watch issued
We confirm your plan and book the contractors. Licensed contractors install shutters or panels.
Pre-storm visit
We carry out the checklist, document the home and send you the pre-storm report.
After the storm
Your home goes into our post-storm check queue for when it's safe to return.
Limits
Preparation lowers some risks but can't prevent storm damage. Our team leaves when mandatory evacuation orders take effect. Contractors' availability before a storm is limited, so homes with a plan in place are handled first.
Frequently asked questions
When should I set up a storm plan?
Before June 1, or before you leave for the season. Contractor time is booked fast once a storm is forecast.
Leaving for the season? Book your walkthrough before you go.
We record a baseline of the home, agree on a visit plan and access protocol, and start visits the week you leave.
